Down below in your post on guessing, was he an electric eel by any chance? Hes very dark and kinda hard to se although hes big and COOL looking.

I have 2 tanks of Cichlids, Oscar, Silver dollars, Green Terrors, and Jack Dempseys, And a yellow Midas who lives alone because he has such a nasty disposition (in the family of red devels). But I get a kick out of his ORNERY-NESS
Oh and can't forget SCOOP, the foot long Pleco, he earns his keep,
