about this breeding cycle

bobfc Jan 29, 2004 08:06 AM

my Iguana started to exhibit new behaviors; stop eating; thought he was sick; but nothing is wrong; discovered that he was in a breeding cycle; this is his first one; so don't know what to expect; put in a sock covered log; he bites it; mounts it; but that's all; haven't seen any discharges anywhere; he hasn't eaten much of anything for over two weeks; is drinking a lot; how do I know when this is over?; will he do this every year?
he ate like a pig for a while; was that storing fat for this?;

Please take some time to read the articles located at the link below.

One thing that I do not think is mentioned is that I have noticed an added issue of concern with females owning males. Females in their cycle are often the target of male iguanas and it is a good idea to avoid males in breeding season if you are a female on your cycle.
