What knid of tegu do you have?
how old is it?
How big is it?
Just curious cause I have seen adult red tegus anywhere from 3lbs to over 20lbs. I am hoping to get a frame of refference but I need lots of input.

right now i have 2 tegus. both now are hibernating. Taz my male Argentine Black/White Tegu, he is 3˝yrs old (or 4˝yrs...? cant remember right now) , and around 4'7-9" and in the summer when he is at full weight is 20 lbs. i got him from Bert Langerwerf at Agama International. i also have a 18mos. old Argentine Red Tegu that is around 3˝ feet long. I am not sure of his weight. i got him from Ben Seigel. both hibernate every year, so pretty much cut their age in half, and thats how long they have been awake and growing. both are awesome and extremely tame. as far as biggest tegu, Bert showed me one of his males that had to be ATLEAST 5˝ feet. it is absolutely huge. when i go down to his place this spring ill try and get a pic of him. aside from that Taz is the 2nd biggest i have seen.
Hey Matt . I thought a while back that you said that taz had cancer? If so how is he doing and how long is he going to live? Also when I first came to the fourm you said taz was 18 mounths old . Santiago is going to be 3 years old this june . Looking forward to thoughs pictures in the Sprimg . Russ

i got a job right when he supposedly had "cancer" at VetPets. so i got a 60% discount on the surgery for Taz, so that helped with the price tons. he didnt end up having cancer. which is a good thing. i was told he did. and hopefully Taz lives for a long long time.
I have two tegus. I'll break it down for you.
1. Blake, Colombian black and white. 2 years old. 3ft. long and about two pounds (colombians have a much slighter build than the argentines).
2. Trinity, blue. 6 months old. 3ft. long and definitely over two pounds. Haven't actually had her weighed yet (Blake was weighed at the vet).

Slash-male arg. B/W- I think hes just about over 1 year old last week he was 37 inches, and i have never wieghted him. never brumate yet. Hes eating like crazy strait through this winter growing really fast, and making me go broke on all the stuff this thing eats, its crazy. -Nick

My Argentine B&Ws are both about 1 1/2 years old. The male was 4' 4" a few months back and the female was 3 1/3'. They did hibernate for about a half a year when they were young. They are both well done with their growth spurt so I consider them to be at their adult size.

My Tijolo is a Red Tegu.
The reptile store had had him for 2 months when I bought him on May 12, 2003. When I first measured him on 5/18/03 he was 15" STL (total length).
As of 01/18/04 he is 15" STV (snout to vent) and 38" total and weighs about 5lbs.
Pretty impressive growth I think! LOL

"Tegan" my male blue is 4' almost exactly, I am not sure of the weight currently. If you are interested and willing to close a few pop up windows I have a website on Tripod that shows a picture history of his growth. I will be posting current photos this weekend but it shows his growth spurt pretty well. The link is in my signature line.
