i havent found clean un fertilized dirt to use in cages and i dont want to use my bakyards dirt. were would i get some clean dirt of would i broil some dirt to sterlize it??

alot of people use backyard dirt myself included ..........
I would have used backyard dirt but the ground is frozen here in wis. So I went to the local building center as they are starting to put out spring gardening stock. I found a really good top soil/sand mix it was very cheap. This was not peat based or what they call soiless mix. Maybe try somewhere similar.

Try sandy loam, I've heard it is great for varanid species.
