Another rack to fill up.

If I keep building racks, I will be sleeping in a small corner of my room. I guess it will be the snake's room then...

I have ended up sleeping elsewhere when my snake room became too crowded

A couple of questions about your rack.

First, it appears you used some narrow strips for your vertical supports, correct? I do that too in order to save weight. If so, what did you use inbetween the vertical supports? Is it supportive at all or just a covering?

Secondly, are those narrow strips of wood shims? That's another trick I've used when the boxes I was using had feet on the bottom.

The supports are 6" strips of melamine 4' long that was left over from cutting the shelves out of a full sheet. The covering that is attached to the sides is 1/8" white tileboard, the same stuff that dry erase boards are made of and it is not supportive. It provides sides and is attached between the supports and the shelfs. It has a brown surface which is to the inside to give the snakes a darker shelf and perhaps less stress.

The strips at the bottom of each shelf hold the tubs up because I am going to use 11" Flexwatt as belly heat for each shelf. They are kinda expensive, $5 a piece for 12', but they work perfectly.

What kind of tubs are you using and what is the size. Using the risers under the tub. DOes that let you heat more of the cgae or what purpose? Thanks Todd

The tubs I am using are 41qt sterilites, rough sizes are 16 x 35 x 6. The strips I am using for risers create an air gap between the heat tape and the tub so the tape will not overheat.
