Intermedius and amazonicus

NealH Jan 29, 2004 04:20 PM

Hi--
After keeping darts for a year, I think I'd like to try some thumbnails. I'd like to hear from anyone who is keeping D. intermedius or D. amazonicus. Are they difficult to keep? Are their requirements any different than their different colored counterparts, i.e. imitators or ventrimaculatus? I'm just looking for some information on them and haven't been able to find a lot on the web.
Thanks,
Neal

I don't keep either species, but I do know some people that do. From what I understand, the care is identical to their counterparts, the increased price of the frogs is just associated with their relatively small distribution across the hobby.

In order to get some, you'll have to actively ask around and probably put yourself on a waitlist.

Both of the frogs you mention are really cool, but I think I would start with a lower priced thumbnail first. You will be amazed at how small a hole these guys can squeek through.

There is nothing worse than coming home and finding a dried up 'raisin' on the floor!

$125 each, just like most egg feeders. Of course, the price can fluctuate, depending on the breeder, etc.
