Powerfeeding definition

snakeman2004 Jan 29, 2004 04:34 PM

I have always thought powerfeeding was simply feeding the snake too frueqently and too much at a time. I read the other day that powerfeeding is actually when you attach another food item to one the snake is swallowing to force it to eat more than it should. Is that the true definition of "powerfeeding" or does overfeeding the snake count, too?

I have read the same thing regarding the definition.

I think the feeding of too much food that isn't forced is called heavy feeding..I could be wrong though

You never experience life until you have kids..then you realize what you should have done rather then what you did do

I have had to use that technique on more than one occasion. Usually you use it when you have a picky snake that only likes small items like mice. I once had a burmese python that ONLY ate mice lets take that one step further she only liked LIVE mice. I grew her to around 10 feet by piggybacking. She would NEVER touch a rat rabbit guinea pig etc. Only live mice. Ever seen a 12 foot burmese chase a live mouse around the cage? You dont know waht you are missing lol. The only probably is she was so used to me feeding her that way that she would bite the mouse then turn and look for me who was holding a rabbit or something to stick in her mouth. She never really struck at me or constricted or anything but nevertheless it makes you week in the knees to stand there and try to get the head of the rabbit right in the snakes mouth you need nerves of steel lol.
