Howdy Norm, I think the general rule is three months for Lampropeltis, but I would guess that most milks would succeed with a lot less. Especially the scarlets. In the few years that I have worked with breeding triangulum, we have had success with both two and three months. That was for hondos and pueblans though. I believe that a longer brumation would only provide a better chance for double clutching to be successful, though I could be wrong. If true, I wouldn't recommend that for scarlets anyway. Sorry, just rambling. I think that if the scarlets came from FL or maybe even a little further up north, then they would naturally have a shorter brumation period. I know that this is true say for example the yellow and everglades ratsnakes (I didn't even brumate a pair one year and was successful). Heck, I found that apricot scarlet of mine around last Thanksgiving weekend. Boy, was I thankful that year.lol Hopefully some of the more knowledgeable guys will get on here and set me straight. Just thought I would see if I could get things rolling. It has got me thinking about the length of elapsoides brumation though. Later on-Brett
yeah Brett, I am chompin at the bit...cant wait to pair em off..Norm
