Morgana fell off her branch!?!?

dextar Jan 29, 2004 08:43 PM

This has never happened before, and it stunned me! She was sitting on her branch (kind of awkwardly) and just slipped off. She didn't fall to the bottom of the cage, because she caught ahole of the branch.

Does this mean anything? Maybe she just thought she had a stable hold and fell asleep and started to slip off. Are there any health related issues with these guys falling from their branches?

I think I'm going to hook a webcam up to monitor what she does day and night, because these guys are so interesting and I miss so much.

cheers,
derek

I haven't really noticed any external health problems on her. I'm thinking her falling off the branch was due to her not having a good grasp on it. She likes the one spot of this branch, that is very slender but has leaves around it. So she lays on the slim part of the branch, and trys to grab ahold of the leaves for support.

I'm hoping this isn't to serious. I'm probably going to take another sample of her feces to the vet to get it checked again, to see if the parasites are gone now. I may just take her in for a checkup also.

Your feedback was great, it made me realize some things I should be looking for. I haven't completely forgot about your suggestion, as it did happen to your Erowen. I'm keeping a keen eye on her. I have also noticed she is hanging out on a different branch now. Maybe she realized she shouldn't be sleeping on that skinny branch =)

I actually got a new branch
it cost a fortune ($20 american) but it is fat enough for her to grip all the way up
and there is one short stump on it, that hangs down the way I have it set up
and she JUMPS up to that hanging branch and hides there
she will rotate around the hanging piece to hide from the light, or heat
its cool to see her
I got water Dip sticks for fresh water tank, and found out my HOUSE water is WAY hard, and alkaline
maybe that is part of why Erowen does not like the pool anymore
we shall see
