Gold Cape Cobra's do exist... but the pic you posted is a King Cobra if I'm not mistaken..

Just search on google for Naja nivea pics

Cheers,

Peter

Hello.
Yes the golden Cape, from Glades is very nice.
Its yust a color morph and only few avilable.
You can find Cape Cobras in many color morphs.
But I dont understand why you post a pic. from a King Cobra ?

Gold color phases of Naja nivea, are pretty common in the Kalahari Desert, South Africa.

Karl Switak has written some really nice articles in Reptiles Magazine about them in the past.
I'd suggest looking up old issues and reading about them.

Hope this helps.

The gold phase is pretty common throughout the Western Cape in South Africa. So far this summer I have caught-and-released over 40 niveas, ranging from light-yellow, butter, gold, gold speckled, and black-and gold speckled.
The Black and gold one I hung onto - it's the most stunning nivea I have ever encountered.

I've no idea what it is, but I'll tell you what, I've seen this particular individual in person before, and it's an absolute beauty!

Hi All
Yes gold/yellow capes are quite common in the Kalahari area and in Botswana and in the Northern Cape area. And yes the pic posted is of a King. A lovely sight to see in the wild, and I have seen a few. Just a word of caution though, they are totally protected in South Africa/Namibia and Botswana.
