Big Burm Ovulating

marksherps Jan 30, 2004 12:13 AM

This is our big female double het albino granite burm starting to ovulate tonight. All around the right side in the pic doubled in size within a few minutes. She ovulates the end of January every year. She bred with a male het albino granite. Her largest litter so far was 60 eggs two years ago and she is much larger now! Thanks

Nice looking female, Mark. Good luck with her; hopefully she will lay a large clutch of fertile eggs for you. My females have just started to breed more in the last 2 weeks. The two big girls I got from you should be producing granites this year if all goes to plan. I should have a few other Burmese mutations hatch this year as well.

Sincerely,
Chris DeLay

She looks great Mark. The male I got from you last year is doing his job well this year. Thanks for always producing quality animals.

I'm so glad to hear my snakes are doing well for everyone. I think granites are the easiest burm morph to raise and breed. Our adults have always been healthy and bred consistantly. Of course keeping them "mite free" is a big factor in keeping them healthy too. lol Thanks for the nice comments! Good luck on all your breeding projects.

I have a female burm. I don't plan on breeding, atleast that wasn't my intention when I purchased her.

Do all females ovulate, regardless if they are bred to or not?

Do I need to take any measures or steps when mine does, if I don't breed her? Does she lay slugs if not bred?

Mine is only about 7 months now. When would I expect this to occur?

Thank you,

Richard
