Well... I keep some unusual species myself, and I'll tell you what I do when attemps to gather information on their care fails.
A. Find out what it's like where they live in the wild
B. Try to duplicate it
It involves trial and error but... like I said, it's a last-ditch sort of thing. Then YOU can write the paper!
