Starling- question on assist-feed recipe

armiyana Jan 30, 2004 04:08 AM

That one female of mine is still being a little pain in the butt.

I was browsing the forum archives and found your recipe:
1 tsp. turkey babyfood
6-8 drops flax seed oil
small pinch phosphorus free calcium
small pinch herp vitamins
2-3 drops liquid vitamin c
strawberry-banana, peach, or other non-citrus nectar

The question is how well does this keep? If mix some of this up would I be able to freeze it until I need it? I know baby food doesn't tend to keep long from experience with force-feeding puppies. And I have the feeling that this little girl will need quite a bit of encouragement as well before she starts eating again.

Any advice is appreciated.

You can freeze it if you leave out the flax seed oil and it it fresh each time. The omega-3's in fax oil are fragile to light and air and it is best to keep them in an opaque bottle in fridge until right before use.

It does not keep that long without freezing, I usually make fresh in small batches every few days.
