Baby Alterna Not Feeding

Lucio Jan 30, 2004 10:17 AM

I just got one at the Midwest Reptile Show and doing some research am discovering that these guys can be picky feeders. The guy that sold him to me assured me he was feeding on frozen pinkies, but I'm still worried. How often should I attempt feeding pinkies and how long before I should really start worrying and switch to a different strategy if any? Anyone ever try using those Lizard Maker droplets? Would that help?

yea I tried it a couple of times and found it to be compleatly useless .
I was able to get my stubbern guys to eat pinkies by rubbing the pinkies with lizzard guts or skin and boy did it work great . Thay nailed those pinkies in 3 second flat . The next step is to slowly scent the pinkie less and less each time until no scenting at all is needed { you'll know if you have used to little if the snake shows no interest } . You should not have to scent them very long maybe 3 or 4 times befor no scenting at all is needed . I've got one that I think was starting to back slide so I started to brain the thawed pinkies and that really got her going and she really started to tear in to them then. But if you scent them with lizzard skin a couple of times you should have no trouble.
