My New Saharan

azlunchbox Jan 30, 2004 11:11 AM

Well on Tuesday i finally got my birthday present to myself.....my pair of red Saharans that were supposed to arrive by 10:30 am didn't.......and at 4:30 er so pm i went to the petstore to get some pinkies for snakes....i finally got home at about 6:45.....and found the box just sitting outside by our door......noone signed for it.....and they just left it in there......sure i'm in Az and the wheather isn't HORRIBLE right now......but at night it's still about 50-40.
the female is fine n all....but the male had a buncha scars on it all over.....he's huge.....a whopping 190grams.....twice the size of the female or my yellow female.
But one of his front legs was noticeably swollen.....you could tell right away and the guy who sent it shouldda saw it.
So i took him to the vet on Wed. (my birthday) and the vet found that his problem is (Articular Gout) and sooner or later he will die from it....no telling how long or short till it will happen.
I talked to the guy that i got it from and he's going to give me a replacement after i send this one back. but yeah...."happy birthday to me" lol
at least i have Dr. Jarchow here...he's one ofthe best reptile vets around.....so he was able to find the problem right away.
But now i have to ship him back on monday. bah.
then i also scraped a buncha skin off my fingers putting together my birthday present (a 125 gallon acryllic tank) so yeah....my birthday presents have been having slight problems.

oh well....time to get it all behind me i guess.

Well Congrats and Happy Birthday! Thats to bad about the Male but unless you can hand pick them I'd say the gout is pretty common in WC specimens. I have seen a lot of poor guys like that at swaps.
