toppy Jun 07, 2003 11:12 AM

My famale tang honduran is laying eggs right now. its been 11 days since her pre egg laying shed. the eggs are 3 - 31/2 inches long and yellowish white in color about 3/4 " in diameter
does this sound like a fertile clutch? will they whiten after I move them to the vermiculite box? the box is in a heat rack set @ 80 to 82 deg.Shes got 3 out and I think maybe has 2 more left to go. I'll write back soon
Thanks chris

they key is that the surface looks dry, almost chalky, and that the eggs appear full, or "inflated", and not with mulitple discolorations, especially green ones. I've had plenty of good clutches of hondo eggs that were light yellow, or cream colored, as well as others that were white. Imagine the eggs in this picture but more creamy colored, and you'll get the idea. I suppose it would be a good idea sometime for me to post some pix of bad eggs, so people can see the diff. I'll do that next time i get some.
