yoo
i wouldn't worry so much...my king chills around everywhere...sometimes under the hides, sometime out in the open, sometimes in the water...he will choose where he wants to stay...

and as far as he being nocturnal....do u control his light?? cause he might not realize whats going on if u have ur light on at random times...its not a big deal..after all, he was prob captive born and raised...so let him be...he should be just fine.

ps...i don't think they have snake psychologists...haha

Ya, it's probably no big deal... most kings are supposed to be more active during dusk and dawn so not necessarily at night. My king does the same thing sometimes.

Once a snake really settles in and doesn't feel thretened by movement outside the enclosure. They seem to just consider the whole enclosure a hide sometimes. IMO
