I was intriguesd by an earlier post that made reference to Thrasops making quick and bloody kills...an indication of possible envenomation of prey animals. Because of this I have kept close watch on my pair (4.5" male 5' female). I recently upgraded their diet from hopper mice to fuzzy rats. Inspite of the larger prey, both snakes exibited no change in their eating pattern which consisted of grab and swallow. The female in fact took over five minutes to swallow her still squeaking rat.

In over twenty feedings of this pair I have yet to see anything that resembled envenomation.
