Hi, Im really confused as to whats going on with my gravid female. She layed her 4th clutch and was eating fine for about a week-week 1/2. She started two only eat 2 supers a day, and yesterday i gave her a pinky, which she loved and ate right away. Today she only ate one super, wont touch anymore. She doesnt seem to be developing eggs at the moment, cant see anything though her belly at all. She hasnt decreased in activity, just eating. Im worried and dont know what to do besides keep offering her food. Do you always see the eggs in her belly. i appreciate any help i can get, thanks,

Hi Zero, sometimes my gravid females go through a period of changing eating habbits too. The pinky she ate yesterday was probably very filling - and digests more slowly than some things, so its pretty normal that her appetite will be down for a day or two afterwards. Pinkies and super (king) mealworms are large food items. She might be more interested in eating regular mealworms or crickets instead.

Also, while most of my gravid females show eggs as they develop, I do have two that can fool me. I've had leos that laid regularly every two weeks skip a week, then lay again. My best guess is that their body is being taxed so I'm especially careful to be sure they are eating well.. and that's when I've noticed they may take more smaller food items too.
