*NEED Help with My Tegu*

smokie Jan 31, 2004 01:30 PM

i own a columbian tegu that is about fully grown. lately he seems to be showing signs that his front claws are causing him some pain or discomfort. he is very tame, and other than his claws he is healthy. about 2 weeks ago a nail fell off one of his fingers. i do not have the funds to go back to the vet right now so i was wondering if anyone knew of some possible causes and cures like maybe its an infection and hydrogen peroxide would help??

what comes to mind is shedding problems. I know retained toe shed can be a bit more difficult to notice and will eventually lead to loss of claws and didgits, and darn, that just can't be comfortable. It did seem to be more problematic on the colombian I had than the Argentine I have now.
