i just got some plants from the home depot and i don't know what to do in case they have chemicals on them how can i safely put them in the tank, what should i do to them? thanks for any responses

The best way that I have found is to very careful break away any soil from their root section and then rinse them under water (room temp water would be best to avoid shock)to remove the remaining soil as best as possible while keeping minimal root damage. Once the roots and the rest of the plant has been rinsed clean, you should proceed to plant them as quickly as possible as this method can be very stressful to certain species but most, in my experience, usually pull through.
