I called my male commodore
Hi
Twin Twin, Gecko, Peaches 'n'Cream, Jazz, Smokey, Sprite, Squirt, Hideaway, Cresent Moon, Pitch, Tang, Cinder, Storm, Lady Love, Bullseye.
How's that for names?.
Take Care, TLB
i don't have pictures to show them off, but here are all my geckoes' names (in order of age & acquisition):
my first- basically normal, though she's a jungle & was a circle-back baby. her name is jeeves, or 'big mama jeeves' when she's being especially feisty.
my second- a shy little snow with a bit of an attitude, i got her from albey. her name is myrtle. she lives with jeeves in a 20L.
my third- the most vain, nutty little gecko i have, maybe i should have named her paris hilton. hehe. she is a hypo-ish snow (technically lower grade, but i still love her), with a suggestion of a stripe. her name is lucretia, after my favorite stripper, hehe. she lives (while she is still small) in her own 5-gallon. she'll move in with myrtle & jeeves when she's bigger.
i got the other four all in one batch (from geckoville), so, 4 through 7-
fourth is mew, the mellow one of the bunch. she is just adorable, and a total fat-cat. she's the only one that comes even close to jeeves in terms of audacity, lack of fear, and mellow-ness. she is the only 'banded,' non-jungle gecko i have, and i'm proud to have her. she is a light pastel, but she somehow has this merry little glow about her, she's always fun to watch.
fifth is veruca. she is a prissy little princess, i named her after the girl in willy wonka and the chocolate factory. unlike lucretia, though, she is a little less self-righteous in her attitude. it must come from having roomates. she is probably the gecko i have worth the most money. she surprised me, and has basically turned into a fully striped, almost pure white, snow. (no, i will never sell her, nor any of my bebes, hehe.)
sixth is caiman. caiman was a temp-sexed female, but surprised me when he popped a set of hemi-penes! so, once i was sure, he was moved to his own 5 gallon. he's been a little sullen ever since, but he's in general a very nice little fellow... poor guy. i think he's going through the equivalent of being a teenager right now. i named him caiman, because, when he was a baby, he looked amazingly like a little baby caiman, for a leopard gecko. he's a very bold stripe, with some lingering purples and a titch of yellow. he'll inherit the 10-gallon all to himself, when he's a bit bigger.
and seventh is pablo. pablo was the smallest of the bunch, and i was afraid to house her with the rest. at some point in grade school, the teacher looked up the meaning of our names in a some book, and a guy in my class was named pablo. she said it meant 'small,' so that memory is how pablo got her name. she (originally) lived in the 5-gallon caiman lives in now. she was very shy, and panicky whenever i even came near. i was afraid every time i had to lift her up, to clean her cage, i thought she would pop her tail! well, when caiman turned out to be a boy, she swapped to living with mew & veruca in the 10-gallon. well, when i put her in, i realized that she had grown to almost the size of mew! the presence of others has mellowed her out a lot, and now she'll sometimes bask outside of her hide! she has a striped tail, and a swirled body pattern. she's fairly bold in pattern, and has some lavendar, but no yellow.
so- there you go: jeeves, myrtle, lucretia, mew, veruca, caiman, and pablo. my naming strategy is to wait until i really feel like the name is right. i waited weeks before i was sure of some of their names. i wanted to get to know their personalities. also, i'm not particular about picking names that are 'gender suitable,' or whatever you'd call it. i feel like, if it suits them, what does it matter?
when the time is right, i'm going to pursue a striped snow breeding project, but i'm not in a rush. also, they've grown since i've had them, and the time has come to upgrade them to larger enclosures- i love reptile shopping, hehe.
