Hey everyone, well last week I've finally decided to make a new cage for my Asian monitor, since he's beginning to get really rowdy in there and I had to take him out for short periods of house roaming so he can burn off some excessive energy. Anyhow, I got some slight ideas on how to build it, but I want to check up with you guys to see what you think. Oh yeah, try not to hit me with expensive stuff because if it cost too much I can't do it. Got books and bills so sorry about not being able to build the best.

Anyhow, I've decided to go with a 8ft long x 4ft wide x 5-6ft high tank. My first decision was to get plywood, but then I thought just get any good durable wood and pant it with a water/damage resistant coating. Any ideas from you guys? Anyways, I believe it will be in my house, but I would like something that is also durable if I put it outside in the summer. The front will have a sliding glass screen door maybe about 4ft long x 3ft high? What do you think? There will be a wire net in the side, unsure of how big yet but it will be on both sides. There will be two or so small holes so I can put the ceramic bulbs inside and one in the middle so I can hook up the UV. He's knows not to touch them, never did either, smart. I was thinking about making part of the bottom, glass so I can put a UTH or two under it.

What you guys think? Please consider I don't have a lot of money or as much resources as some of you guys have and that I'm willing to put it into the house, so... Also consider the reptiles weight later on. How thick you think the wood should be? I was thinking of about 3/4"? How about the glass?

My house is usually about 65-68F. Outside temps is 40F winter time and 80-100F summer, just in case you want to know. Any help will be appreciated, just want to learn from some pros in here which keep a lot of monitors in the past and present. Thanks. If you can give me the estimate cost that will also be helpful, thanks once again.
