Fussy eating!

Hedwig Jun 07, 2003 01:57 PM

Hey Everyone,,

As some of you might know we've had a lot of problems feeding our new BTS. She will only eat egg whites and a tiny amount of cat food (the chunky stuff). Today we bought her some pinkies and she ate them in seconds of us putting them in her bowl. I've heard a lot of people say that you shouldn't feed BTS pinkies too often as they are not nutritionally complete. Is this true?

Also I was thinking of feeding her some meats, and was wondering what meats would be best? Should the meats be raw or cooked? She still refuses to eat veg, should I be worried about this as i'm starting to get concerned that she will become ill if she keeps on avoiding her greens? I've even tried leaving her with just greens for a few days and she just does with out food!!!

Thanx

Terry and James

Yeah, I know, I'm annoying for continuing to say that, but there simply is no other more important factor in a healthy BTS diet.
Pinkies should not be a significant portion of BTS diet.
Meat of any sort should not comprise the vast majority of a BTS's diet.
Cooked meats are best.
Mix in vegetables and a little bit of fruit with the meat. Needless to say, the meat should be either a paste (dog food) or minced very small, so that the BTS will have to eat the non-meats.
A BTS will not starve itself to death. Continue to offer the greens garnished with a little meat and she will eat it eventually. Do not give in to the temptation to feed meats only because you think she'll starve. She won't. Even if it means you continue to offer it for a couple of weeks, she WILL eventually eat it.
Good luck.
