I mean they are venomous but I would definitely not classify our western hognose as an extremely dangerous animal. I guess we should be lucky that the dreaded Eastern hognose was not stolen instead.

Read bryans paper it will show you most coulubrids have toxins but just no way to deliver the toxins.
so it might have a toxin its not vemomous till it injects the toxin then it becomes a venom.
his paper is on

HI mate

They can deliver the venom via the rather enlarged back teeth. However enlarged teeth are not an essential ingredient, they were a refinement of the deliver process, not the decider as to venomous or not. Even the venomous rat snakes can deliver the venom via wounds created with their regular teeth. So, whether or not a snake is venomous is defined by whether or not they produce venom not the relative refinement of the delivery..

That said, its ludicrous to refer to them as dangerously venomous. Usual media drivel.

Only if a witch turned you into a toad. LOL

You tried to eat one and choked! That would be pretty dangerous.

It reveals the depth to which evolution can sink when it takes the downward path and strips animals to the irreducible minimum able to perpetuate a predatory life in its naked horror."

It's absolute b*ll*cks. Yup, they're venomous, yup, they can give you a swollen hand and forearm, but extremely dangerous??? Any medium sized dog can easily do more damage.

Just a bunch of people combining the unlovely character traits of profound arrogance and abject ignorance to make a pig's ear.

Cheers,
