I know all parts of it are venemous so I am guessing it cannot be used on vivariums am I right or has anyone used it?

The parts of the plant definitely aren't "venomous." Even though the plant is poisonous if ingested, there are no dermatologic reactions to the plant.

I have grown this in a terrarium, but found that it requires more rich soil to thrive than my epiphytic type mix. I raised a number from seed in the terrarium (before I had frogs in there), and left a few after it was later planted. Eventually, the plants were overgrown by my fittonia and ficus pumilla, as well as my Nepenthes. I believe I might have one or two plants still languishing under the leaves of these plants somewhere if I look very closely. You can buy the seeds at local nurseries for about $.88 per pack. They are very easy to germinate in a terrarium.

Dart frogs are not apt to eat plant parts, even accidentally. I think the worry about "poisonous" plants comes from keepers of other types of frogs that lunge and gulp prey along with whatever vegetation it is on. Even some very "poisonous" plants are acceptable in dart viviariums. As Homer suggested, if a plant is not exuding the toxin on the surface and has no contact irritants, it is safe, at least for darts. I don't have any Mimosa pudica at this time, but used to grow it from seed in the greenhouse simply because everyone liked to touch it to watch it fold up. I have never read or heard about it being toxic, however, and "venomous" is a somewhat different term that doesn't apply to plants. Venom connotes transferrng a poisonous substance by biting or stinging. But that's just niggling with words. Enjoy your Mimosa and don't worry.
