Pandale Road conditions

herpo Jun 07, 2003 02:08 PM

For those of you who plan to hit Pandale Rd. this year, here is a summary of its conditions as of a week ago.
The first 1.5 miles, to the top of Blair's hill is absolutely atrocious. From there to about 6 miles up it improves to HORRIBLE. about 11 miles up it improves to mereley terrible. from about 15 miles up it is barely tolerable.

If you plan to go to the river, I'd suggest either the extra miles on paved pandale out ouf Comstock or coming down from Ozona.

I found many new squeaks and rattles in my truck after going up the full length. It might have been smoother had I driven off the road, but all the new fencing down to almost the side of the road made that not an option.

Actually, I didn't find it to be all that bad...of course, we were in my brother's car...

By the way, it was nice meeting you at the Outback in Sanderson and out at the Gap at the end of May. We were the herpers whose wives found the copperhead but didnt pick it up for ya. We did end up going up and down Pandale dirt 3 times while we were there, twice during the day looking for hogs and once at night, finding only one suboc at 61F crossing through the mud!
