Good Inexpensive Toad or Frog House For the Garden & Pet Purchase

norcalguy Jan 31, 2004 09:39 PM

Hello- I'm looking for a solid, good looking but functional and reasonably priced toad or frog house for the garden (ideally terracotta or resin).

Ideally an internet source for the purchase would be great too. I haven't found too much under $30.00.

Lastly as someone interested in purchasing frogs or toads as pets what are the best resources for them outside of private owners as I would assume different geographical locations (out of state etc.) might make the process of purchasing them much more difficult or be cruel to the amphibians to be shipped.

I'd be interested in hearing from experienced individuals out there and other hobbyists who've gone through this a few times.

I'm located in Northern California (San Francisco Bay Area i.e. within one hour's drive of San Francisco).

Thank you!

Are you talking about a kind of hut that you could put in the garden? I got a nice resin Toad House at walmart for about $8.00. You might have to wait until springtime though, when they start stocking their garden stuff.

Thanks for the reply. Yes it is for some outdoor "guests" I have. I've found this forum and site to be very helpful. I'm looking into purchasing and building a 'internal' home for a pet frog. So many varieties....my largest concern is in providing the right habitat for the frog(s) as pets, and since i'm in California I'm also not sure if there are laws I need to be aware of in terms of which species you CANNOT have as pets, etc. Anyone know where I can find this information and if I should be concerned certain species as pets in the state of California.

Thanks!

I think these people can help you out with the laws...
