and it is definitely UNDER her skin... when I move her skin, the spot stays in the same place, but I can see the skin moving over it.

I recently had this problem with one of my younger leos. Is this a Juvie? If so Marcia at GGG. told me it is quite common for leos this age to have a spot like that just below the sternum. She also suggested putting her by herself, if she isn't already to allow her to be better observed and to let her have better access to her food. Also you might want to get a fecal done just to be on the safe side.

Hope this helps,

Tim

Tim is right. The tiny little spot in the picture is perfectly normal, and is nothing to worry about. She looks very healthy! The liver is much larger, and lower in the abdomen. What CalGecko said in the post below, is also true. When a gecko gets sick and has been off food for a long time, the liver swells up and turns dark because it is clogged up with lipids from the mobilized fat reserves.

Hi,
When i was at the vet a week ago, i asked about it, cause mine has one. He said its the kidney or something like that. He said everyone asks, but its just an organ of some sort, i can't remember what one. Don't worry

A lot of times when animals i notice start to go into egg laying or go off feed for a bit there liver becomes more prominent. I've noticed it with my older adult animals. If the animals is an albino theres even a greater chance of seeing dark spots and they are just various internal organs. I know when my hatchling albinos come out its so weird looking because you can see almost every organ through their skin.

however your spot is a little high and small to make me think its the liver, when i've seen this happen in adult animals i give them my miracle juice (banana baby food, jump start, vitamins, calcium, and a little yogurt to jump start gut flora) and that usually causes the darkness to go away.

well, I know she's not been eating a lot.. I've only had her for a month, she's quarantined from my other 2 leos... and in the month I've had her, she's only pooped 3 times.. so she's obviously not eating much.

when you mention the "flora" ... what is that? I know I need to get her appetite going again,... she seems healthy, I mean she's active, alert and personable.. not to mention she's got a nice big tail.

Thanks for the replies!!
