Does the drop in temp set something off or is the lack of daylight hours?
I would have to say both. I reduce both light and temps. But it is wierd. Near the equator temps and light remain constant so I think it is the rainfall that dictates seasons. I dont know go figure

I think heat plays a bigger role then light, but I have noticed that in my new house I have two windows in my snake room. I leave the blinds open and have seen more breeding activity this year then in the past.
It might be that it’s a whole lot cooler here in middle Tennessee then at my old place in Alabama. There are just too many variables to put together. But I do think having your heat drop along with the light cycle you can’t go wrong.

If a pair hasn't been cycled as of now, is it too late to start and get them to breed sucessfully?
I would not think it’s too late. People claim that they can breed boas year round. As for myself I only breed from mid November though January.
Good luck,
