Isreali Dune Gecko - Stenodactylus petrii

herphaven2004 Feb 01, 2004 05:08 AM

OK, well i've had them for a while now, and they are healthy and eating etc, but they are also male and female, and about a week or so ago, i found a egg, which i was not expecting. But the female had layed it on the hot end right at the bottom of the vivarium so it as stuck to the bottom so i tryed to get it out with a spoon, but it cracked! But i still put it into an incubator just in case, but within a couple of days it had turned bad So anyway i know that theres prob going be another egg on the way, so im looking for tips on how i can get the egg out of there viv and into the incubator, and i would also like to know if anyone else has bred these before, as im not that sure what the temps need to be or if the sex is temperature determined? Any help would be great.

Thanks

Hello,
I breed them yet. My experience is, that they hatch much better if the eggs stay inside the terrarium. You only have to put something over the eggs so that the geckos don`t destroy them or eat the hatchlings. If you want to incubate them outside the vivarium just put some thin polythene film ( I don`t know the right english word) under the sand. So you should be able to evacuate them without destroying these very fragile eggs. You have to incubate them dry, by the way.
Best wishes from germany,
Karsten
