removing the undertank heater?

is it possible to remove the undertank heater?I know it says you cant but does anyone know if you can and it still work?

All I can say is I've done it... some of my heaters have long and colorful histories. The fact that they tend to not heat as well over time and after being moved is a PLUS to me, though, as a 95 degree heat pad is much more useful than a 140 degree heat pad.
Your results may vary, meretseger is in no way responsible for fires, explosions, plagues of locusts, and other unforseen consequences of heat pad relocation.
