I know what some people may be thinking...regarding the REWARD...

Markus Jayne Feb 01, 2004 09:54 AM

...that the breeders that are contributing the most are those that have benefited from sales from Jeff. I can only speak for myself and a few others and say that that is not the case. I have never met or spoken to Jeff let alone sell him anything. I only just e-mailed him after hearing of his situation.

I know of one other friend of mine that made a $600 commitment, Bryan of exoticballpythons.com, that has yet to make a sale in this industry and, like jeff, is building his collection up by spending hard earned dollars.

This really affected me greatly. I was deeply saddened by it and although to some, doing what we do seems easy...it is NOT! It takes alot of dedication, perseverence and PASSION! Top that off with a lot of hard work!!!

In my eyes, Jeff represents people like me, like Bryan and anyone else out there that has a dream to succeed in something that they truly love to do. It's coming home to a whole new round of surprises. Everytime you slide open that drawer you never know what you'll find...breeding...ovulation...eggs! Then there is the hatching. It's like Christmas. Every package is different. It is excitment that we all need in our lives. It is the fuel that drives us. And yes there is the financial reward as well. It is the necessary part of any business or life for that matter.

I would like to personally thank all those that have contributed thus far. Whether it is $5000 or $10 it all adds up. It has shown me that there are many fine people in this industry. One that I am proud to be apart of.

Thank you!

I agree with you wholeheartedly. I have never met or spoken to Jeff either. In fact, until last night, I had never even heard his name! But when I talked to Dan and Collette it might as well have been my animals that were stolen. I had to give something. I have said this on another forum, but its true. There are some names that should be on the pledge list that I do not see there. They know who they are, and I am confident that they will do what they can. We should ALL do what we can.

I have NEVER sold anything to Jeff and as far as I know, haven't talked to him or met him ever(sorry Jeff if we have and I've forgotten, my memory isn't the best in the world). I pledged my part of the reward because what happened to him is my biggest fear with my collection. It's not a fire, or a bad year producing, it's someone coming into MY home and taking MY animals. I'm 30yo, our house was burglarized when I was 14, when I was 16, I caught someone on my carport trying to climb in my mom's car through the open sunroof, and had car stero equipment stolen from me twice(some stuff one weekend, then they came back and got what they missed the next weekend). The house makes you feel the most violated by far. I guess it's because you feel safe in your home and when you know that safety has been violated, you feel vulnerable. And to know that it was someone that knew him, or someone he had at least talked to only makes it worse.

Anyway, Jeff, I'm very sorry for the bad news with the pregnancy, and I'm very sorry for what happened with the theft. Keep your chin up and don't lose faith.
