Help bulb wattage!!!

veiledcham Feb 01, 2004 12:13 PM

I am getting a 60 watt mercury vapor bulb because everyone is telling me too, but I think I should get the 100watt because the website sais the 100 watt makes a perfect 82 degrees in a 10 gallon terrarium. and my screen cage is 16Lx16Lx30H and I need the basking spot to be 93 degrees and the rest of the enclosure like 75-80. What should I get

Hi,

It depends what brand bulb you get. We've noticed that Powersun bulbs, for example, put out a lot more heat than a Capture the Sun bulb of the same wattage. The latter tend to put out much more light, though.

What type of bulb do you plan on getting? Most mercury vapors come in 100 and 160 Watts. Never heard of them being available in 60 Watts.
