cutting rubbermaid or sterlite

zazzygrrl Jun 07, 2003 03:37 PM

I successfully used an old glue gun to melt nice airholes in the plastic, but I want to cut a section out and replace with screen for better ventilation. I did the first one with a utility knife and it worked so-so. Anybody have a better suggestion on how to cut hard plastic?
thanks

EMT shears are good. Use a utility knife to make a starter cut to get the shears in tehn cut aways.

If by "Utility Knife" you mean one of those retractable box cutters - try turning the blade around to the unused side or putting in a new blade. I've found that when they are sharp, once you get it going - bury it to the hilt and gently pull - it really cuts nice.

Check and see if you need to change blades. They work about the best.

Good luck

Jigsaw seems to work efficiently, if you have one laying around.

Use a Dremmel - works great and you can use the sanding bit to get rid of the sharp edges RR
