how's the humidity?

chuckwallaboy Feb 01, 2004 01:57 PM

Hey you bunch a chuckers,

Wondering if anyone can give a little insight on the humidity levels acceptable for the well being of chucks ( is it still absolute 0??? ).

I don't know how much difference there is from the area in which I live compared to the desert an hour away. I know I could simply look this information up - but I'd rather nibble on creosote buds and bask as I gaze upon the festive burrowing owl below.

The reason I ask is because I am considering keeping my chucks out for longer periods this spring and summer, but I know in ME gut that it just AINT the right thing to do.

Thanks

I keep mine outside year round here in Houston Texas-- humid as all hell year round!!! I have seen no problems!! I was worried about this but since I keep the pen dry ( with a clear roof)--- at least the soil/ gravel etc stays dry. We might have 3-4 days of rain in winter and summertime can be hot & dry followed by several days of hellish downpours. Most every morning shows to be 95-100% humidity. I have not lost anything with respiritory problems-- now cats are a different problem .
