digestion of mice

david06855 Feb 01, 2004 02:02 PM

i recently got a green tree python, very young i do not know the age i got it from a friend who could not keep it. so i fed it and it will eat fuzzies with no problems but after it digests it the feces looks like a mouse still with some fur and back legs... does this mean it regurgitated it or is it the way snakes this young digest
i have been keeping the heat up at around 80 for it misting the cage keeping the humidity up. any suggestions???

That doesn't sound good to me. Try feeding smaller mice and raising the heat to around 83/84. Your snake is definately regurgitating. Put the snake in a place with minimal traffic.......it could be stressed.

are you sure it is regugitating because when i see the mouse like this there is no head left and there is that white substance around it that is in the normal feces of any snake. could it be improper digestion.?

It could be, but the evidence of legs points to regurg. I could be wrong, but I still suggest feeding smaller meals until you see normal defecation. Good luck and keep us posted.

all right i have been feeding it the smallest fuzzies i can possibly find and it wont go for pinkies or frozen/ thawed. but readily will feed on fuzzies so i guess im gonna have to just keep trying.. how long should i wait until i feed again
