clp Feb 01, 2004 04:29 PM

Hello all........

My question.....

When i put some pothos in the cage........ its gone right after that......... need to try to get them to eat something else..... I have read many most of the post since mid september... anyone have any unique ideas....... how do i switch them off.......

can pothos cause intestinal bockage?

hope to see more MTS q & A's again

No one here on the forum wishes to ignore you, or disregard your need for HELP with your skink.

But, as much as we would love to give you an answer to help him, we are not qualified, beyond the basic everyday needs, and minor ailments.

Your skink seems to have a very serious problem if it can not even move, and the only correct reply we can give is to let a Vet look at him.

If your young, or maybe don't have the money,(as sometimes happens to all of us) call anyway, and atleast explain your situation. Its worth a try for your skink !

Please know that we do care.

Also, I'm sure your short, negative replies were only because you were VERY UPSET .

We certainly wish the best for your friend, and please let us know how he makes out !

I can not see how your reply even talks about my question.

Did you post correctly?

If the skink will eat Pothos and banana it shouldn't be that hard to switch it over to less expensive fare.

Put a bowl full of cut pothos leaves and bananas in for the next feeding. Get them used to eating that for a few days. Then substitute a few greens for the pothos. Once they're eating that for a few days or a week, substitute some more greens and maybe some veggies.

Keep this up over a several weeks, reducing the amount of pothos every few days, and increasing the amount of greens and veggies. Make sure you take it slowly and it should work just fine for you.

Also, I wouldn't worry about pothos causing blockage. It's a big part of their natural diet in the wild. I would make sure though that you clean the leaves well before you feed them to your skink, as they may have been sprayed with who knows what at the nursery.

Thanks for the info...... it was good seeing it take to the pothos....... i am feeding some pothos that i have had for years....... Can't find any pothos around here yet as it seems the stores are waiting till spring to get some in....

I will try mixing up the pothos with the bannanas... I have tried that with other veggies......... IT was just amazing how fast it went after the pothos........ I better feed some more nd do some mix in this time........

Thanks......

My Leonardo is not a great eater too but he is doing great! Leonardo loves pothos plant and pothos represents great part of his diet! You can try to give him bananas, squash, cucumber but dont feel disappointed if he doesnt eat! He will eventually start eating different things!
If i were you i would not hand feed your MTS! I started to hand feed my Beardie and now he doesnt want to eat by himself anymore! Our babies can become VERY spoiled you know that!lol!

Mine like apples and green beans. Those seem to be their favorites other than pothos. I get the green beans frozen, defrost them and they will eat a whole bowl full (I have three). Apples, if chopped up enough are almost as popular. -Lucy
