That does look really weird. I recomend a vet visit. Can you get a pic of his underside, showing his belly? Are you sure it is a male?

well... i think its a male... not 100% sure tho... why... are you thinking it might be an egg? i am going to wait for my friend to come over, and i'll have him hold her, and i will take the pic of her underside... if you tell me you think it's a female, i'll let her lay the egg... but if she is def a male... i will call the vet tomorrow...

Even if it is female It's not supposed to look like that. If it is an egg she is severly egg bound and may need surgery if she doesn't lay after a few good soaks in warm water.

Either way see a vet.

Hi Sara2

Look at his post of the side view of his gecko just above his post were it says pic2 and it looks to me like hemipenes.

Hi

That is were the tail connects to the body and you see two bulges there which are male parts.

Take Care, TLB

hhawk20005 Feb 01, 2004 07:40 PM

i thought those were right where the tail connects to the body... not opp to the side.. and a bit of humor on the subject... if those are hemipene's, my gex's got BIG balls!! . either way, i will call the vet tomorrow and set up an appointment... i'll let everyone know what happens. Thanks for the help, and if anyone else thinks they might know what it is, please, feel free to offer me any other advice.

Yeah it does look like it. The only thing I have seen like that bulge was an eggbound female that someone posted here awile ago, so that was my first thought.

I don't really know, I haven't seen a bump like that before. Did it just pop up like that all of a sudden or did it slowly get big?

I don't know what it is so I can't really tell you what you can do.
I do know the have fat storage in that area on both sides but it is more visible on the underside of the gecko and I haven't seen it stick out like that. Some of my heavier females are bigger in that area but they are also big all over so it doesn't look like it is sticking out.
Try and get a pic of the underside it may help.
