my snake is hurt.

I have a 3-month old female nelson milksnake. I let this one idiot hold her for a second and he got scared because "she moved" and dropped her and started running away and 'accidently' stepped on her, or at least he thought he did. I looked at her carefully, and she seemed fine and was acting normally. BUT, she hasn't eaten since (3 weeks), and about a week ago some scabs have appeared on her lower half along with some scale damge. I'm afraid she is near death since she hasn't eaten, but she is still acting pretty normal. I've tried all kinds of pinkies: big, small, frozen, and live. Does anybody have any other ideas on how I can get her to eat? Any suggestions at all? And is is normal for scabs and scale damage to show up after 2 weeks? HELP ME PLEASE! I am at wits end!

The scabs and scale damage might have come from body rot as a secondary infection from injuries (abrasions) that were not readily visable when the snake was stepped on.

It is very possible that your snake has suffered broken ribs from being crushed under a foot. Your vet could determine this from Xrays. This easily would account for your snakes lack of interest in food. You may need to force feed small meals to keep it alive long enough to heal.

This is not the ideal situation; but just last year I had a 8' Madagascar cat snake that broke two ribs when a friend shut the cage lid on it. I force fed for three months till it again took food on it's own. It is now a totally healthy snake.
