Jamie,

It looks OK, but for future reference never get a plant w/o a label. More than likely it is the dwarf if you got it at a "home depot" type place...are they in UK yet? I hear they're on their way.

Anyway, here are two links (below) with info and photos. I am curious as to why everyone makes this distinction about one being toxic and the other not. If you do a search online you will find conflicting information. I go by Cornell University which does not have it listed.

Schefflera spp. have a latex type sap that can be bothersome (mouth ulcerations) if consumed in large quantities. If your cham is not going to eat it don't worry about it. If it will eat an occasional leaf - don't worry.

here are the links:

BTW, my cat ate part of my Schefllera once and she died - 17 years later

that's the right one. The other, is more toxic, and can cause vomiting. I have used bith with no problem, but I would not use the toxic one with a veild--not worth the risk. the toxic one, S. actinophilla has wider, longer leaves, they are thinner, and are more translucent. The "safe" sheff, like the one you have, has small clusters of leaves, and is often yellow and green. It looks more like a bush.
