Beardie's first clutch

dragonlady1954 Jun 07, 2003 05:29 PM

My 18 month old Female and 10 month old male mated about 6 weeks ago. The Female laid a clutch of eggs about 3 weeks after they mated. I believe this is her first breeding. She has now laid a second clutch of eggs. A lady at a Pet Store told me that with beardies she thought their very first clutch is always infertile?? Is this true??

Not true. If you saw them mate, most likely you have a fertile clutch, and possible more on the way. With one breeding you can get multiple clutches cause the female can retain sperm, and fertilize more eggs. It is possible for an unmated female to lay infertale eggs though, but if you saw them mate they are fertile. Good luck.
