Tail curling questions and update

FisherCham20 Feb 02, 2004 12:36 PM

I know I'm probably going to sound like a noob asking this but what exactly does it mean when a chameleon curls their tail up? I know they do it while resting, but is it also a sign of comfort/non stress? Mine seems to do it a lot when he's on my hand or when I go to feed him.
Update on swollen neck: It's almost back to normal. Still not sure what caused it but I have been gutloading with cabbage added in and moved his water dripper to a better spot.

Sometimes it is an attempt to look bigger and badder. If the cham is slightly stressed and feeling defensive they may curl their tail. I've often had chams do it when being held.

As for the edema, it could have been a nutritional inbalance that you have corrected. Keep an eye on it. If it occurs again recheck your gutloading and supplementing.
