Dragon has bad foot/leg! What is it???

zoolady Feb 02, 2004 03:00 PM

Hi,
I am new to this forum. I got my water dragon about 3 months ago and as far as I could tell it was fine when I got it. I powder its crickets in reptile vitamins a couple times a week. Keep the water clean. And have a good environment for it. And use Uv heat lamps for it. So I dont know what caused this or what it is exactly. It satrted with a bump on his foot. The bump got bigger, like it neened to be popped or something. So I treated it with rubbing alcohol, then peroxide, then rid rot, then toppedit off with neosporin. Ive done this a few times now.
The first time really loooked like it had helped cause the next day the bump had gone down. But after a few days it came back up again so I treated it the same way again. The lump went down again but it looks like maybe it spread into the lower part of his leg? I treated it again today. Hoping this is doing some good. But does anyone have any ideas on what this could be from or how I could treat it better? It shouldnt be anything to do with mites either cause I am using a mite killer in thier encloser. I got it after I first noticed the lump thinking it might be mites. But it hasnt gone away since using the stuff. Or any better. Well heres pic. the poor thing. Its such a sweety.
Also, any ideas on what sex this is? I am new to water dragons. It shares its encloser with my male Green Basilisk. They are great buddies. And the Basilisk has no problems at all. So no clue what is wrong with the dragon.

It looks like he may have skin from an incomplete shed cutting off the blood supply to his foot. The best bet is always to take it to the vet, the longer you wait the worse the problem can get, and if it is infected he will die.
