Subject: Tarzan is in his new home!!
Derek and Kelly emailed me to let me know that Tarzan arrived safely and appears hungry as usual. Derek says he ate 50 1/2 inch crickets........ lol, I don't think the travel is going to affect his appetite. Now if they just don't want to return him because he costs so much to feed!
For anyone interested, we feed them a light dinner the night before and then separate them from the others. A small helping of salad first thing in the morning at 6 am in the prep tank and that is removed by 10 AM. Then they are given a few dropper of water during the day to hydrate them well and clear out their tummies. At 4-5pm they get some diluted pedialyte. At 6pm we leave the house, they are taken to the airport terminal to the Airborne counter around 6:20 pm, hugged and put in their box and sealed there. At 6:30 to 7:00 pm they start their journey, by midnight they are in Ohio and then on to their main location and delivered to their new home by 10:30 AM. Hopefully sleeping the time away. A busy day for a little one.
The night before weight was 48 grams, preship weight was 46 grams and arrival weight was 46 grams, so he seems to take the trip fine.
We have found that this routine clears out their tummies and they do not get sick from the trip or arrive messy. Oh forgot to mention, from 6:20-7 pm I cry
, from 7pm to 10:30AM I worry and cry.

Additionally, I do not recomend shipping even with heat packs when temps are below 40F
