Heat/basking lamp

ALREYNOLDS2003 Feb 02, 2004 05:03 PM

I have a veiled that has a 40x24x28 cage. Does anyone have any ideas as to what watt halogenic bulb I should get for heat. Currently all I have is a 100w MV bulb for 10 hours a day and need another source for JUST heat.

No one can suggest a bulb by wattage. So much depends on the room temp and humidity, drafts, etc. What I would suggest is a regular porch spotlight or floodlight from any grocery or hardware store. You need to measure the surface temp of a perch in the basking spot and move either the lamp or the perch nearer or farther away to get the temp you need. Predicting the temp by lamp wattage doesn't usually work.
