any advice on mites?

larrymc Jun 07, 2003 06:26 PM

i was hoping someone could recommed an effective mite treatement. i noticed 2 on my bci's head earlier today. i was also wondering if anyone might know how she got them. i have had this snake for about 8 months now and i am sure she didn't have them before. i have always prided myself on being a very attentive herper and i would have noticed them before. other reptiles in the home are a ball python and 2 bearded dragons. all of which we have had for at least a year. the bci is the newest addition to the family. all reptiles have been kept completely seperate and have had no contact with eachother. with the exception of the dragons as they coexist in the same inclosure. the bci eats freshly killed rats from a local supplier. is it possible the rats were the vehicle for the introduction of the mites?
thanks in advance for your help

I have used Proventamite myself, and highly recommend it. 5 minutes of work and you're done. www.pro-products.com is the website to purchase it. I'm not affiliated with the company - I'm a satisfied customer.

I agree with PHScales. Great stuff. If you use it, remember to read the directions carefully. You don't have to spray the snake.
