Hi everyone, I missed you guys!

BrianSmith Feb 02, 2004 07:29 PM

Hello to all! The good folks at kingsnake have considered my case and have lifted my temporary ban and have allowed me to return to the forums. (thank you kingsnake administration)

I just gotta say that it's great to be back and I look forward to sharing thoughts, ideas and experiences concerning the pythons once again.

Thanks Tom, yes, everything is going GREAT on my end. Too good in fact. All breeding is exceeding my expected goals and buisiness has been too good. There's actually such a thing as TOO much business and I have been turning down business because of it. But yeah, things just couldn't be better.

Hope you're doing equally well.

Brian, er, Damon, could you set the record straight here....it has always been my assumption that your name was Brian Smith as that has how I have always addressed you and how you have wanted us to address you; if it isn't, I'd sure like to hear a good explanaton (but then again, one really isn't necessary as it isn't my business)...just curious. Not sure what the ban was about but again, none of my business. Rob

BrianSmith Feb 03, 2004 12:23 AM

The real name is Damon, Rob. But either is fine and I still do a lot of business as Brian. It matters not.

I was banned due to a squable I had with another herper where it got heated and inflamatory and I posted some things I shouldn't have. I don't want to rehash it however as I don't feel that ks administration wants that issue re-opened.

Good to be back though. Hope all is well over there with you and your reptiles and the new place.

Hey Damon, welcome back. It will be nice to have some more interesting topics to talk about again. The forums have slowed a lot since you left and the tic forum has been really dead. Please give send me an e-mail so we can talk a little business. Once again welcome back. Todd

BrianSmith Feb 03, 2004 12:35 AM

Hey Todd, thanks for the compliments. It's great to be back. But ironically I wouldn't have been able to be here much the last month anyways as business suddenly more than quadrupled in the first week of January and has remained incredibly busy until now. I have been busier than a one legged man in a butt kicking contest, I tell ya. It has left me little time to do much else these past few weeks, and coupled with intensive breeding programs I am completely exhausted and left with little free time at the end of the day. I'll try to get here a bit each day though as I do enjoy coming here and sharing thoughts and ideas with other good herpers.

I already answered your email, but yes, I will certainly be producing everything you spoke of in your email to me, and much much more this year. It is going to be a banner breeding year here in 2004.

Glad you're back safely from Iraq. Things are just too insane over there and our guys should be here with their families instead of putting their lives on the line probably over oil ultimately.

I agree with Todd the forums has been real slow since you have been gone.

I would like to thank you Damon. I took your advice and set up my building almost exactly like you said yours was. This is the first year i have not had to deal with minor RI's. All my snakes are eatting great. They only refuse food when they are in shed or breeding. They are shedding alot better. It has really taking all the heads aches out of keeping my snakes. Thanks again and glad business is going great.

Glad to hear that your snakes are doing so well. I love reading that, you know? Because that's what it's all about,... the snakes. And if I could just save even one snake it's all worth it, you know?

Yes, I think the main key to R.I. prevention is in constant, steady, high humidity. (75-85%). I think it is very sad that still to this day good people lose cherished pets to something so simple and mundane. So I think it must be stressed that high humidity saves the python's lives. And why not invest 20 bucks in a humidity indicator? Right? I mean,. if it means saving the life of ones valued pet, why the heck not.

What kind of humidity gauge do you use. I have been looking at the ones they sell at Wal Mart. I have it set so my humidifier comes on during the day.

One brand I have been happy with is the GE digital humidity/thermometer/clock guage. I never use the clock setting, but keep it set on humidity and temps. A button on the front tells you what the highs and lows of each day were/are. They sell them for about 17 or 18 bucks. Quite cheap in my opinion and I have yet to have a single problem with one.

I sent you an email a while back about the progress of the rescue I took in around Christmas. She is doing great!!!!! I could not expect a better recovery. She is still mean as HELL, and bites every time I walk by, but oh well, that can be worked on. I guess enough of my rambling, this all boils down to....Good to see you back!!!

Jason

p.s. When can we expect those tame Celonyse(sp?) you have been talking about?

BrianSmith Feb 03, 2004 04:49 PM

I could've swore I answered that email. I guess I got sidetracked with something. But good job all the same.

Not sure exactly when I will have the ceylonese, but i will certainly let you know the moment I know. You are first on the "notify" list if I am not mistaken.

Take care and thanks for the nice welcome.
