Timor Monitor Breeding

reddragon01 Feb 02, 2004 07:57 PM

I have a pair of Timors that have been with me for over a year now. The female has for the past week spent her time diggin all over her cage. Considering the number of times they have copulated over the past year, I'm pretty sure she's gravid. I have them in a custom built cage 4 ft high by 30 inches wide by 24 inches deep, with approx 4 inches of substrate in the bottom (ground coconut fiber and cypress mulch mix). Is 4 inches enough? Or will I need to deepen it or put in a separate box or bucket with deeper substrate? This is my first breeding project. Thanks for any help you can give!!

Well, too late, she's just finished laying them and is covering up the eggs as I type! I am so psyched! I've got a hovabator being next day aired to me, it'll be here tomorrow morning. If anyone has any tips to offer, please let me know! Thanks!

Can anyone help me? I have retrieved the eggs, she laid 3, 1 of which was a slug. The other 2 are about 1.25 inches long. Is this the normal size for timor monitor eggs? The incubator is being delivered today, I'll be placing them in there. For now, they are in an old ice cream container with moistened cypress mulch, the temp in the container is 85 degrees, humidity is 65%-70%. Am I on the right track? Thanks.

OK, since no one is interested in helping someone new to the monitor breeding world, I'll say thanks a bunch and sayonara.
