Shedding and Handling

ElusiveKimmaby Feb 02, 2004 08:05 PM

My snow corn just shed for the first time for me today - it was a good clean, nearly perfect shed, only about an inch left on her tail. It was kind of funny... when she got the main part off she crawled back into it, I even took a picture...
anyway, I've heard that you shouldn't handle snakes during times when they are either... due to shed or in the process of shedding or whatnot. It sounds like common sense to me not to handle her WHILE she's shedding, but beforehand she's been perfectly happy with me. She finished her shedding about 8 hours ago. I was just wondering if there's any reason why I shouldn't take her out and show her off to the household. Is she going to be moody? She rarely is, but I don't want to irritate her! She's such a darling snake, the last thing I want to do is piss her off =D

If she's all done shedding go ahead. My snow doesn't mind being held EVER. Everyone else has their moments, but she's just allways okay with it. Some won't like it when they're real blue because it pretty much blinds them. But if she's done, and is as you say, then I'm sure you can show her off Right after a nice shed is a good time for pictures too

There shouldn't be any problems with handling her now. Keep an eye on her tail for the next couple of sheds. If she keeps retaining the tail, it could present some problems. If so, let us know.

Good luck,
Todd
